Sweet Corn Seeds Mr Fothergill's Bodacious RM F1
A naturally 'sugar enhanced' variety with large, fast maturing cobs that are crammed with juicy, very sweet kernels.
Very tolerant of rust which is especially helpful in wet summers to provide good quality, healthy crops.
High in fibre.
TOP TIP; Sweet corn is pollinated by pollen being blown from another sweet corn plant, to the strands on the top of the cob.
Therefore, if you plant in a single row, most the pollen is blown away from the row, preventing successful pollination.
For full cobs, you need to plant in blocks so that the pollen blown from each plant , is blown towards the young cobs on
a neighbouring plant.
If you are growing your sweet corn in a very sheltered spot, to ensure full cobs you may need to pollinate manually.
The same applies if your prevailing wind from one direction. The plants on the side that the wind hits first, often
produce lower quality cobs. Again, you may need to pollinate these manually.
