A teardrop shaped Japanese 'Hubbard' type squash growing to approx. 1.5kg in size.
Uchiki Kuri has a wonderful sweet and nutty flavour, it is traditionally eaten braised in stock as a winter vegetable.
A Best Buy variety as recommended by the Gardening Press and Consumer Groups.
Recommended by Charles Dowdin in BBC Gardeners World Magazine
(January 2015 edition):
“Ripens early and stores well. The fruit have firm, orange flesh and a sweet flavour similar to butternut – but is easier to grow.”
